Project Description
Brand personality and visual identity for a natural wine shop and bar in Manchester’s Ancoats neighbourhood.
A challenger to the expected. City not country. Pixels not barrels. Kerbside not vine yard. The brief was to challenge how the shop behaves and how it presents itself to a younger, city living, (natural) wine drinking audience that don’t care for the outdated rituals, patronising content and pomposity associated with wine.
The approach was not just to contrast what a wine retail/bar/social space is expected to be, but to also go against the elegant interior architecture and design proposition rather than sitting neatly alongside it. The locality of Manchester in attitude but not in overt overdone references.
For launch signage, point of sale, the website, social media assets, a zine, branded glassware (featuring the now iconic ‘drowning gremlin’), packaging, bags and branded merchandise were designed.
